Aloha from Kenya, wish you were here
Kenya was ahMAYzing.
The things I saw, learned, experienced…felt…all beyond words. But before any updates, here’s how I got there.
When I travel, I love taking pictures from the airplane. I strategically book window seats and take what probably look like random photos. Hope you’ll come to find that they are not.
I do wish you were here. So, here we go. Before we get to Kenya, come fly with me.
Tired but happy to be at JFK. Even though it’s a long layover, I’ve got plans. But so much for strategy because I didn’t know the airlines counter doesn’t open till noon so now we’ve got to wait at least four hours to check my suitcase.
I’m enjoying the travels so far. However, now I’m antsy. And bored. Grateful for Shavar, a local worker who asked to sit with me. We had a great conversation, shared some chocolate macs, “danced,” and he went on his way. I now feel refreshed and ready to tackle the 30+ more hours of travel.
Stoked to be in Paris, but after 30 hours of traveling and barely a blink of sleep, I’m slowing down. After chatting with a few American tourists excited to go on their safaris, I bought chocolate for days, ate, wanted to walk around but needed to charge my phone so I sat…then woke up from a nap I didn’t know I took, with just enough time to board.
At this point, I’m fatigued and starting to feel anxious. I could use a hug and a smile. But we’re back in the air and I’m now eager to get to Kenya.
Over 27 hours in the air, over 15 hours in layovers. Let’s get to the hotel!
But first…
I wasn’t joking when I said I wanted you to come with me. The cities, moon, wing shots, even the blurry selfies during the 43 hours of travel. All of it was part of the journey. If you made it this far, thank you.
Indeed, I wish you were here. And now, in a sense, you are 💜
